Jumpstart Your Job Search: 3 Simple Steps to Mastering Task Initiation

Are you ready to search for your dream job? Are you beginning to draft the perfect resume or that eye catching cover letter? What if you have the passion for this AND you are struggling to get started? What if we told you we have 3 strategies you can implement TODAY to get rolling? Keep reading to find out!

  1. REMOVE DISTRACTIONS: Why resist distractions, when you can remove them! Modify your environment into a productive space.

    • Turn your phone off for ten minutes

    • Use a website blocker- C&C Coaches LOVE the Freedom App (you can set which apps/websites to block and for how long)

    • Have someone hide the tv remote for a certain amount of time

  2. SET A TIMER: Set a 5-minute timer and GO! - You can do anything for 5 minutes! (C&C Coaches LOVE visual timers- try this: Time Timers).

    • You may want to keep going even after the 5 minutes are up!

    • Remember: Motivation kicks in 2-5 minutes into a task- so we are confident timers work!

  3. MAKE IT FUN!: How can I make this undesired task better?

    • Get your favorite iced latte and pastry while you begin your resume (better yet, have someone bring it to you once you get STARTED)

    • Listen to your favorite song while cramming out that cover letter

    • Bring your laptop to a cute cafe

How can YOU make your undesired task more fun, interesting, and novel? Good luck with going after your dream job and let us know which strategy you will try today. Your future self will THANK YOU!
